I love to work with the kids others have given up on because I believe with all my heart that every child has the ability to learn. If a child is giving their all and still not succeeding, I see it as my responsibility to discover a more effective way to reach them.
Before joining me, many of my students feel trapped, much like a bird in a cage. They have often lost confidence, their desire to learn and explore has waned, and, most heartbreakingly, they have started to believe they’re incapable of achieving their dreams. They feel confined by their struggles, unable to see a path forward.
When we begin working together, the experience for your child is like opening the door to that cage. Through my unique and highly personalized approach, your child will begin to rediscover their innate curiosity and confidence. They start to understand and embrace their capabilities, realizing they are far from being "stupid" or "incapable." Instead, they find that they can learn, succeed, and soar high.

I am an educational therapist who focuses on understanding the ‘why’ behind each student's struggles. Hi, I’m Kris and I am an Educational Therapist and Private Teacher
For the final chapter in my career, I am finally getting to do the work I truly love and can’t imagine doing anything else. I searched for over 30 years for ways to actually make a difference for smart children who struggled to learn in traditional settings.

My frustration with children not being able to succeed in school began in my first year of teaching, where I was a first grade teacher. In spite of using a quality curriculum, three of my students were just not able to understand even the simplest reading material. They were bright, had supportive parents and worked very hard. I could not just shrug them off as outliers, like the school administrators encouraged me to do, and be content that at least 70% of my students had become fluent readers. These students wanted to read! There had to be a way for them to learn.
That began my quest to figure out how to enable all children to experience success.
Aside from being a former teacher with a Master’s Degree in Special Education, I am the mother of a bright child (now fully grown) who, despite being highly intelligent and creative, struggled in school before I knew what I know now about learning challenges.
At the time, there were no good answers and my son was labeled as lazy and/or stupid, his teachers gave up on him, lowered their expectations of him and condemned him at a young age to a life of mediocrity. There had to be a better way.
It’s not just a job…it’s personal.
My 30 year quest for answers.
My experiences in the classroom and with my son fueled my passion to find a solution and for 30 years I searched for better answers. I have tried almost every solution that has been presented. I have taught at some of the largest franchise tutoring houses, invested in too many promising curricula to list, and for years I continued to be dissatisfied with the results.
Then finally, after three decades of searching, I found methods of teaching math and reading/spelling in a way that allows these students to finally see and understand what they are really doing and experience the success they deserve.
Unlocking Dreams for 10+ years.
Now, for more than 10 years, I have dedicated myself to refining my practice as an educational therapist, specializing in math and reading/spelling education for children as young as kindergarten through middle school.
With a Master’s Degree in Special Education and extensive training in the Making Math Real Method and the Barton Reading & Spelling System, I have continuously sought to enhance my skills and methodologies. I have spent the last decade-plus deeply immersed in training, mentorships, and personally developing tailored educational strategies that not only improve math, reading and writing comprehension but also foster students' confidence and executive functioning.
